MOMENTUM BUILDS FOR ANTILIA CARNIVAL LAUNCH IN NEW YORK
Top models added to highly anticipated Caribbean showcase
NEW YORK (November 1, 2009) – The Caribbean-American community as well as Friends
of the Caribbean are eagerly preparing for Antilia’s preview of the Trinidad and
Tobago Carnival to be held at Tribeca Rooftop (2 Desbrosses Street between Hudson
& Greenwich Streets) in New York City this Thursday, November 5, 2009, starting
at 8 p.m.
Antilia has already announced that it will feature international Soca king Machel
Montano and celebrity hosts Jamaican-American supermodel, actor and host of Bravo’s
Make Me a Supermodel Tyson Beckford, and 1998 Miss Universe Wendy Fitzwilliam of
Trinidad & Tobago.
But now the Caribbean-owned special events company is revealing that a number of
top models will join the line-up. “The Trini Carnival Showcase has attracted some
of Trinidad & Tobago’s top personalities who will team up with popular faces from
reality TV shows America’s Next Top Model and Make Me a Super Model, representing
the color and diversity of Trinidad Carnival in carnival costume,” said Antilia
CEO Simon Khan.
Popular models from the CW America’s Next Top Model Nik Pace (Cycle 5), Bianca Golden
(Cycle 9) and Sheena Satana (Cycle 11) will each strut exotic Carnival costumes
on the catwalk.
Organisers also revealed that Tobago’s very own Sandhurst Tacama-Miggins of Bravo’s
Make Me a Super Model (Cycle 1), who is affectionately known as Beckford’s “little
brother”, will coordinate the runway show and walk in costume himself. Trinidadian
Carnival bands Island People Mas and Spice will provide the costumes.
“We’re pleased with the response to our event to date and believe our colorful and
creative line-up should encourage many American travelers to celebrate with us at
Trinidad Carnival next February,” added Khan.
Trinidad and Tobago’s Carnival, one of the largest street festivals in the world,
invites participants to experience the freedom, revelry and color of the nation
and its people. The two-day festival, which culminates in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad
on February 15 and 16, 2010, has historical origins in the settlers’ masquerade
celebrations and folklore and attracts tens of thousands of masqueraders in elaborate
costumes flooding the streets, dancing and jumping with unmatched stamina to pulsating
and intoxicating music.
Antilia is also offering unique, all-encompassing travel packages to the world-renowned
annual festival. These packages provide a seamless, transparent method of getting
to Carnival, and afford the visitor a VIP experience through the many exclusive
events and offerings.
Tickets for the New York spectacle are US$65 and available at www.antilia.com [http://rs6.net/tn.jsp?et=1102799040644&s=10950&e=001Ybrv2qbDURS5-PA9kFuciDdMoD4WEXtTjedTR2cCNn_oEnh3X8bOctYqHaudkguvyyo5E2QgHZncR2h-JwohdJQxICgpwaVHFjRBFVq3Qpi8dbJ3vd8ZjQ==],
