Award-winning Norfolk FlavourFest celebrates local food through Thanksgiving Monday NORFOLK COUNTY (Simcoe, Ontario) — Norfolk County’s local food celebration, “FlavourFest”, continues at the Norfolk County Fair & Horse Show in Simcoe, Ontario, through Monday, October 12. FlavourFest features over 30 Norfolk County farmers and food suppliers, with samples and sales running daily from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Cooking demonstrations featuring the Two Fairly Fat Guys, Norfolk County’s Official Local Food Ambassadors, also occur daily at FlavourFest. Norfolk County FlavourFest recently won the “Best Tourism Marketing Initiative Award (under $25,000)” from the Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership. “We are very proud of Norfolk County farmers,” said Clark Hoskin, Norfolk County’s Manager of Tourism & Economic Development. “Norfolk County is the leading grower of apples, cucumbers, peanuts, pumpkins, strawberries, sweet corn and sweet potatoes, and many other foods.” FlavourFest is jointly organized by Norfolk County Tourism & Economic Development and the Norfolk County Fair & Horse Show, with assistance from the Government of Ontario through the Ontario Market Investment Fund. The Norfolk County Fair & Horse Show is Ontario’s largest rural agricultural fair and, in its 169th year, Canada’s oldest fair.
