New Guided Tour in Old Québec

Gastronomic Tour

The new Guided Gastronomic Tour by Tours Voir Québec gives food aficionados the opportunity to explore what’s been cooking in Québec City through the years. For 2½ hours, visitors will not only learn about the evolution of Québec City’s culinary history, they can also sample it! The Gastronomic Tour is one you can really sink your teeth into!

Québec City has been shaped by traditions and cultures from the four corners of the world. The French, British and Native Peoples have all influenced local history and gastronomy, creating a savoury dish of cultural diversity that is cherished by tourists and residents alike. Cheese, crepes, maple products, beer and wine are all intertwined in the history of the magnificent Old City, which was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

From May 15 to October 15: Tuesday to Saturday at 3 p.m.

King’s Way Interpretation Centre

Visitors who head down the King’s Way will be able to learn more about this historical roadway by stopping by the new interpretation centre. The various services offered by the centre will gradually be made available to the public over the summer.

Located on a gorgeous site between the St. Lawrence River and the King’s Way (Route 138), the interpretation centre boasts a stunning view and has a permanent exhibit on the history of Canada’s first highway open to vehicular traffic.

The King’s Way is also part of the Route verte. Cyclists can take advantage of the services offered especially for them at the interpretation centre: water fountain, shower tower with refreshing mist and a water jet to soothe the feet, shady rest area, loan of tools for minor repairs, etc.

The interpretation centre will be integrated into the Deschambault-Grondines tourism bureau, which is open during the summer.

Something new to discover!

La Grande Fête de la Côte-de-Beaupré

The program for this four-day event includes a concert by Mario Pelchat featuring the Arc-en-Sons choir from St. Anne’s Basilica in Beaupré and a performance by Bobby Bazini in a cozy little venue under a marquee. The third edition of this event will be held from September 3 to 6, 2010, on the grounds next to St. Anne’s Basilica (Domaine Sainte-Anne).

In addition to these two headlining performers, the program comprises a range of activities for the public to learn about the heritage, culture and agriculture from across the region and beyond. Watch for the fireworks, outdoor farmer’s market operated in association with Goûtez le Québec, the craft fair, cooking and handicraft demonstrations, the family fun area and more!

Canyoning and Biking in Portneuf

Thrill-seekers in search of adventure are sure to love the two spectacular new sites offered by Canyoning Québec in Bras-du-Nord Valley, a stunning natural gem in Saint-Raymond. One site features a one-and-a-half day package with meals and an overnight stay in a shelter. All sites in the valley are operated by a dynamic tourism co-operative.

Portneuf is becoming an increasingly popular biking destination, thanks to the new 87-km (52.2-mi.) long bike path winding through the western part of the region. The Auberge du Couvent de Saint-Casimir gives its guests the opportunity to explore the region safely by following personalized bike routes. Upon making a reservation at this inn, you will receive a personalized bike route by e-mail. Over 500 tourists have visited Western Portneuf by bicycle.
