Red Star Line Museum opening September 27, 2013 in Antwerpen.

Big news for Antwerp in 2013: Red Star Line Museum opening September 27, 2013

The Red Star Line is an Antwerp icon. The legendary shipping company with the red star in its flag transported more than two million passengers from the city by the River Scheldt to America: poor European migrants in search of the American dream, but also well-heeled passengers on a pleasure or business trip to New York. The old warehouses have been developed into a commemorative site and museum, a topical place for reflection with a contemporary approach to emigration. www.redstarline.org

Historium Brugge

A major new tourist attraction is opening November 25 in Bruges.  Visitors will be taken back to the Golden Age of Bruges and physically experience what Bruges looked and felt like in 1435. Experience the hustle and the bustle of the port in 3D, where the merchants converge from all parts of Europe, then walk through the old streets of Bruges with snow drifting gently down around them. A visit to the atmospheric studio of the painter Van Eyck tops it all. A true feast for the senses! www.historium.be
