Having heard of the Québec City area’s success at developing cruises, two Italian cruise lines have joined its list of floating giants. Costa Cruises and MSC Cruises passengers will be able to select Québec City as their destination or departure point in 2010. No less than six embarking and disembarking operations will take place in Québec City in September 2010.
The MSC Poesia (3 013 passenger capacity) and the Costa Atlantica (2 680 passenger capacity) stand out due to their unique itineraries, Mediterranean styles and Italian cuisine.
This is excellent news for Québec City’s tourism industry. The region’s growing popularity on the international cruise market is building a large pool of tourists, given that many visitors return after discovering Québec City while on a cruise.
Over 125 000 cruise passengers (35 000 embarking or disembarking) and crew members passed through Québec City to enjoy the fall colours and the region’s attractions.
