The Second City and the Shehori Brothers present the 2011 National Tour
Brantford, ON? Sanderson Centre for the Performing Arts presents Second
City?s Stephen Harper! The Musical on Sunday February 27 at 8:00 p.m.
Award-winning comedy siblings The Shehori Brothers are back, and this time
they’ve teamed up with The Second City’s resident musical prodigy Jay
McCarrol. The end result is Stephen Harper! The Musical ? a melodic,
satirical romp through the trials and tribulations of everyone’s most
beloved/hated/musically-inspired Prime Minister.
After a critically acclaimed run at The Second City in Toronto last
summer, the musical is heading on the first leg of its national tour,
paying visits to BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Ontario with a stop in
Brantford at the Sanderson Centre.
The premise: after taking a beating in the polls, the PM and his advisors
need to find a way to turn things around before the looming election.
Against Harper’s better judgment, his team devises a winning strategy:
create a lavish musical about the Canadian Prime Minister’s life. And
where better to debut this new musical than on Broadway! Afterall,
Canadians will get behind anything that Americans embrace. Just ask
Nickelback. Will the musical backfire? Or propel the PM to another term in
office? One thing?s for sure ? the buzzed-about ending won?t be what
you?re expecting.
